India ranks 38th of 139 in WIPO Global Innovation Index 2026123
WIPO released the 19th Global Innovation Index on 29 September 2026. India held 38th place among 139 economies, the same as in 2025, and stayed first among the 36 lower-middle-income economies and the 11 economies of Central and Southern Asia. Switzerland was first for the 16th straight year, followed by Sweden and the United States.
