India's climate initiatives: NAPCC, CDRI and the alliances
India's own climate architecture: a 2008 plan of national missions, plus a coalition it founded on disaster-resilient infrastructure.
What the paper can ask
- NAPCC released 30 June 2008; ministries had to submit detailed mission plans to the PM's Council by December 2008.
- CDRI was launched by PM Modi at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York on 23 September 2019.
- CDRI has more than 50 member countries and over 10 organisations, and aims for 75 countries and 25 organisations, focusing on Southeast Asia, Africa and small island states. (as of 23 Oct 2026)
Why exams ask
Setters ask about the NAPCC's missions, CDRI's base and launch, and which summit saw each initiative announced.
